As a young 19-year old draftee, I find that Keith Nolan's books provide a very accurate and truthful account of the subject matter (and provide some insight as to why we were there) and help me understand the politics and manipulation of "patriotism." I was really about 15 going on 19. Very naive and ignorant of the big picture. Viet Nam was just a passing image on the tv screen. I was patriotic and reported the Portland AFEES without hesitation. Would've rather stayed home with my girls, beer and cars; but... Ended up, many years later I discoverd Keith and learned that he lived not too distant from where I grew up. He seems like a friend to me. I am very sorry that he passed away, way too early. BTW, I have purchased every book Keith has written with absolutely no regrets. Thanks buddy. R.I.P.
