The two parts stay together and the cats love it. A bit pricey, though. This was a hit straight out of the box. The two parts are very easy to connect into one and both cats loved it in this configuration.Which was a problem that both cats loved that configuration and didn't want to share. So we put it back down as two pieces and had peace again. The only true solution is to get a second one though. For those who are not familiar with these types of scratchers, it is made entirely of cardboard and we consider these to be consumable goods in our home. The cats will eventually sharpen their claws on it until it's in pieces. For what it is, it is sturdy enough and does the job it is supposed to do.Our cats like catnip, and it came with a little pouch of it. They didn't really need the catnip to dig into this, as they liked it from the time it hit the floor. We did give them some of the catnip anyway and they enjoyed it. It was a good day of new toys and cocktails for cats.Oh how I wish this had come in one piece instead of two. My cats would have loved it then. They all wanted to use it. You have to stick the two pieces together with double sided tape they provide. I tried several time but mine kept falling apart. I am a true cat lady now that a feral cat brought her 5 kittens to me. They are young adults now and jumped all over this but it just kept coming apart. Finally I gave up on trying to make it stick. If I can ever find some superglue I will try that. For now, it's just lying in two pieces on the floor. This doesn't seem to be a real issue for others so I think it is because I have so many cats. This is a pretty nice scratching bridge. It comes in two sections that you attach together. I thought simply by attaching them they would be ready to go and very smooth on top when joined. But that is not the case - when you put one on the other you kind of have to pound down on the top with your fist for a little bit to really join them together well where the top is mostly even. So that’s the only thing I wish you were different is that it was easier to put them together and be even on top right away.It seems well-made otherwise and very sturdy. I also like the two holes that are in it because my cat likes to chase strings through it and I hide her toys in the little tubes as well. And of course, it does take up space so as long as you’re good with that you will really enjoy this. And hopefully your cat will as well.My cat loved his new scratcher. My cats love these large scratching furniture type things...as soon as I put it out we had 2 cats all over it! Very thick and durable. The holes add more fun activity to it!This bridge cat scratcher has cardboard scratching surface pretty much everywhere. It's quite large for a scratcher. We'll be putting it straight into our foster kitten nursery, where it will get all kinds of use and play. The fun bridge aspect is going to be a big hit.You may wonder whether kittens will fit into the holes (which also have scratcher material inside of them). Yes! So long as they're small enough. It clips together easily and is quite sturdy for a product of this type.At $35.99, the price strikes me as spot on.
